The Department of Mass Communication intends to provide qualitative and scientific education as well as professional training leading to the award of B. Sc. (Mass Communication) degree. The Department aims to train students to become competent professionals in various media professions such as broadcasting, book publishing, journalism and advertising. Besides the compulsory courses, students shall, in consultation with the Departmental academic adviser, exercise liberty to choose elective courses related to the areas of emphasis of their interest.


The Department of Mass Communication aims to: prepare students for career opportunities in the media; expand the frontiers of knowledge in the field of mass communication and to contribute significantly to the practice of Mass Communication in Nigeria.  The department also aims to produce teachers and researchers in Mass Communication and to equip candidates with communication skills.
Admission Requirements
Candidate shall be admitted to study for a B.Sc. Mass Communication having satisfied the Wesley University of Science and Technology admission requirements. Furthermore, candidates must have five Senior Secondary School Level credits including English Language and Literature in English.

Course Duration

B.SC. Mass Communication is a Four Year Programme

Degree Requirements for the Award of B. Sc. (Mass Communication)

To qualify for the award of B.Sc in Mass Communication, a candidate must be credited with a minimum of 144 units (including the compulsory courses) within the four years degree programme. In addition, each final year student is expected to carry out an original research on any approved topic in Mass Communication under the supervision of a member of academic staff. Lastly, a minimum of 12 weeks intensive industrial attachment is required for students at the 300 Level of the programme.
